#ShopLocalSaturday Highlight: Burgers at the Place of Brookfield

Welcome back to this week’s #ShopLocalSaturday; where I highlight local eats and shops that I have visited. This week is flashing back to the past; featuring  Umami Burger  in Brookfield Place, New York!

Before I was head off to an event; I decided to visit Umami Burger at Brookfield Place, which was around my workplace. When I got there; the place was fairly huge, the concourse level was a huge area with tables and chairs. Finding the food court (and Umami Burger) was quite the challenge; especially when it’s my first time at Brookfield.

Eventually, I did find Umami Burger (in the food court) on the 2nd floor.

After looking over the menu and then ordering my food; I waited at the pickup area around the corner. Something that I noted, or could be improved was the call remotes that alert you when your order is ready (like at Shack Shack, and other places). I thought about grabbing a seat; but couldn’t go too far, because I couldn’t hear when my order is ready. Probably this is minor, and only inconvenienced me; not much of an issue.

My order consisted of the Umami Classic, fries, and a Pepsi.

I liked that the Pepsi I was served was of the classic old-design shape; like the Coca-Cola version that may still be out there. The fries were shoestring, and were in a wax bag. I had thought that this was odd at first; but as I was eating the fries, I thought it was clever because the oil grease that would normally be associated with fries did not go through the wax bag. This means that if someone would be traveling with the wax bag with fries inside (as most New Yorkers are always on the go); can enjoy fries with no issue at all (Yes, they have forks for you so your hands can be grease-free also).

Lastly, is the the Umami Burger. Since it was my first visit there; I had to get their signature burger. What I liked best about it was the patty; despite how it looked, it was juicy and flavorful. The grilled onions is a nice touch, and the parmesan cheese goes with it. The roasted tomatoes; not too much of a fan of.

To end, I’d go back to Umami Burger. There are other burgers on that menu I want to try; like their finger food, wagyu beef patty (to substitute) and truffle-flavored menu items. The amount of food was just right, didn’t over stuff me, wasn’t too hungry by the time dinner rolled around. Umami Burger is located in a food court in Brookfield Place’s second floor; so there is a huge seating area, perfect for the casual outing. And plus, Brookfield is a mall; so you’re able to walk off the meal you’ve just had. It is also near the World Trade Center area; it’s a beautiful area to see and be in.

“It’s not what you know. It’s who you know.” You probably heard this statement many times. You may be wondering, “What’s that really mean? Who do I have to know? And how do I do that?” My simple answer to that is; networking. Networking is a necessity as you grow up. In fact, you already know how to network and know people; you’ve been doing it all your life.

What’s in the teapot today for Tea Time Thursday? I popped open my #chrysanthemumtea today from Chinese Tea Culture. I definitely love the taste. It reminds me when I go #dimsum and this tea is served. Gotta love when it’s brewed #teatimethursday #chinesetea #nostalgia
